Michael Steven Bublé is a Canadian singer and actor, born in the city of Burnaby, British Columbia in Canada. He is the eldest and only son and the first time that his family noticed his singing talent was when Michael was 13 years old and at one Christmas they heard him sing “White Christmas.
His Italian grandfather, who was a plumber would offer plumbing services in exchange for stage time for Michael and also paid for his singing lessons. With the support of his grandfather, Michael at 16 found himself doing singing engagements in clubs.
Two years after, Michael joined a local talent contest then the Canadian
Youth Talent Search – he won in both contests. After that Bublé would do every gig possible; including talent shows, theatres, cruise ships, malls, hotel lounges, bars, clubs, corporate gigs and even the Santa Claus gig. He also pursued a career in journalism Vancouver, British Columbia.
In 2000, his lucky break finally came when the aide to former Prime Minister Mulroney, Michael McSweeney, received a copy of Bublé’s independent album. After showing it to Mulroney and the Prime Minister’s wife, Bublé was invited to sing at the wedding of Mulroney’s daughter. At the
wedding, Michael Bublé was introduced to the multi-Grammy Award winning producer and record executive, David Foster. Several meetings after, he agreed to produce Michael’s debut album which in the first quarter of 2003. By November 2003, Bublé released a Christmas album which peaked at 56 on the Billboard 200. He won the “New Artist of the Year” award at the 2004 Juno Awards and his album was nominated for “Album of the Year”. Bublé’s second studio album, “It’s Time” was a success reaching # 1 in Canada, Italy, Japan, and the Billboard Top Jazz chart, #2 in Australia, and #7 on the Billboard 200. Two years after that he came out with another album “Call Me Irresponsible” which was even more successful, topping the Canadian album chart, the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, the Australian ARIA Albums Chart and the European charts. Bublé has sold more than 20 million albums and still counting.
